World Eater Praetor/Champion

Hello again,

So Kharn was always going to lead my World Eaters from the offset. However using a special character every game isn't exactly fair or sportsman like, so I made a Praetor who could also act as a Centurion or Champion.

Happy with the model and paint job, he definitely does the job in my opinion.

Next for WE will be the drop pods. My list currently has 5 normal, 3 deathstorm and 2 Dreadclaws backed up with a Dreadnought drop pod for the Siege Dreadnought so I really need to get a move on with them.

Another army! Rampagers for my World Eaters

A new army feature today. After I did my Iron Hands (yet to be revealed....maybe I'll redo them), I decided to do a traitor legion. As a challenge in painting white, I went for the World Eaters and also because they are iconic, super cool and I like the novel Betrayer by Aaron Dembski-Bowden.

I wanted an infantry heavy army, all World Eaters armies should be infantry heavy! Loads of assault troops. I started with tactical marines with bolt pistols and chainaxes, but more on those later. Today I'm showing may latest figures, a five man unit of Rampagers with jump packs.

Not a massive fan of these sculpts, I think the heads are a bit ugly and the gladiator aspect could have been more apparent (maybe helmets- gladiator style?). I used Kromlech swords for the falx bladers as the GW ones snap easily.

My method for the white is:

1. Undercoat white- with airbrush and vallejo white primer approx 1/4 vallejo thinner. This is imperative, you need a smooth base coat and for my spray can sometimes be grainy with white, so I used my airbrush.

2. Ulthuan grey air, same ratio as previous, consistency of milk,

3. Line the detail with the following mix Nuln oil/Agrax/Lahmian medium 1:2:1

4. Tidy up

5. Either line highlight with skull white OR before step 2 use the airbrush to highlight raised areas with white (I use vallejo air white).

6. I weather with thinned stirland battlemire and a sponge and blood for the blood god (I used a little khorne red with this for dried blood).

World Eater Terminators

Hello again folks, the newest edition to my collection are these fine chaps.

So my army is going to be full drop assault, so the terminators are going to drop down in a nice blob curtesy of the teleportarium. First issue, they'll be in aforementioned blob, prime for ap2 blast, yes I'm looking at you plasma destructors. Second, I'm not using nuncio vox's, I really can't see the bloody 12th being sane enough to bother. That all said, still excited to use them.

Model wise, a joy to paint. Was really nice painting something other than a regular marine and following on from the dreadnought I was inspired to try some larger models. I'd say the main thing with these was that they began life as Iron Warriors, I just repainted them. I had 30+ Cataphractii for my IW and when the Tyrant Siege Terminators (FINALLY) came out I thought I really didn't need that many. To be honest if I ever change my mind, I'll just have to get some more.

Cortus Dreadnought of the XII Legion

Hello Folks,

Finished my World Eater Contemptor Dreadnought.

The choice of two close combat weapons was an easy one for me, I mean...he's a World Eater. One thing which is new for me is that I'm using the Cortus Contemptor rather than the regular one. I really liked the description, especially where it said "unstable interment", this also felt really appropriate for the 12th Legion. Plus the Rage special rule never hurt.

More World Eaters soon, I have 10 Red Butchers left to do then I'll have to buy some more stuff. I'll be honest I'm really not looking forward to painting 7 or 8 Drop Pods. If anyone has any good tips on painting Drop Pods please let me know.

Kharn Captain of the 6th

Hey Folks,

So I finished Kharn. I love him, I really do! Loved painting him and love to model.

Took me a little under a week to get him finished and honestly it was a pleasure. I just kept referring to the images on FW and tried my level best to match it (except for the Ultramarine).

Anyway so I finished Kharn and was super chuffed with myself. I was really proud. I was so proud in fact that I took him out of the cabinet to show my friends...and that was where everything went wrong. So I was taking him back upstairs and promptly left him on the stairs...slap bang in the middle so there would be no chance of me forgetting about him. Well I did forget about him, right until the moment I stood on him at 3am.

Well I stayed up, fixed him and painted away as much of the damaged as I could and I was happy again.
Anyway I'm happy with him again and he's ready to slaughter some loyalists!

World Eaters Tactical Squad 1 (The first of many)

Hello Folks,

So here's the first of what will be many tactical squads for my World Eaters.
The army I'm making will all be making entry into the battlefield using either Drop Pods or Dreadclaws hence the 10 man squads.
The army is based of the World Eater attack on Armatura, where they savage the Ultramarine training grounds.

These guys were made using mixed resin Despoiler marines, and the plastic mkIV from Betrayal at Calth. I was originally going to only use the plastics, as I hadn't created an army for Heresy using lots of plastic (my Iron Warriors being all resin), but as much as I love the plastic marines, the resin despoilers added that little more dynamic range in the movement of them.
A thing which has already sparked debate is the fact that I'm choosing to mix the Blue early war and Red late war colours. Personally I like the mix, even in the same squad, but right now its just the SGT who has the red shoulders, blue for the rest of the rabble.

What are peoples thoughts? I would love to hear which people think in regards to mixing colours between units and squads.

More World Eaters

Hi Folks, slow week on the hobby front for me, work getting in the way of life and all that. That said, thought I'd try and show off the newest addition to Angron's army.
A Leviathan Siege Dreadnought.

So there he is, the big lad himself.

Only used him once so far and he seems pretty good at just mulching Infantry and chinning Tanks in melee, that said he was killed by Eidolon in combat (on the turn I charged him). Hey ho, seems like a solid unit and can really rack up a tally with the storm cannon.

JB and the sons of Angron

Hi Folks,

So I'm JB, and I'm a member of Section 8 Wargames club, same as Daveco and Stonedrose.
Like the other guys I'm into a lot of wargames, but unlike the rest I'm a regular Roleplayer as well as wargamer.

Anyway onto the toy soldiers. So recently I decided to mix up my 30K collection with a new army. That army is World Eaters. I'm an Iron Warriors player by trade but I really needed to paint something that wasn't just metal, and after reading Black Library's "Betrayer" I knew exactly what to go for.

Going has been slow to be honest, getting the motivation to paint a white infantry based army has been a challenge. That said I'm very pleased with my initial results.

So this angry looking bloke is going to be my Legion Herald. He's been made by using a mix of mkIV parts, and the GW/FW Ultramarine Banner bearer. I really liked the idea of a fallen enemy banner being just as inspirational as one of your own Legions. This seems especially appropriate for the World Eaters.
